We are reading and discussing some great books and we are working on:
Kindergarten: We are reading non-fiction books about lots of different kinds of animals. It is amazing what they know about wildlife! They all know what an author does and what the title of a book is. First grade: We have been discussing folk tales and how stories have been verbally passed down through many, many years. This would be a great time to share any family stories you may have. Second grade: We are alphabetical order experts and are now discussing fiction books. We are on our way to being able to independently locate fiction books in the library. Third grade: We are discussing different book parts and are beginning work on the Dewey Decimal System. Fourth grade: We are working on different types of reference books and how they are used. The fourth graders are beginning their Nutmeg Book Award quest. Whoever reads 9 of the books and correctly completes the corresponding crossword puzzles will join me in a pizza party next spring. I am reading Saving Armpit to the fourth grade classes and we have multiple copies of all of the books available. Good luck fourth graders!
